Update 9th November 2011

9 Nov

Hi everyone,

Well Kerry has never been good at just entertaining herself quietly and this week followed suit!

Having just got nicely settled in a new bed by the window in the ward with all her numerous belongings all organised in their place where she wanted them, Kerry’s lungs decided to start misbehaving yet again. Yesterday was a really bad afternoon and she was clearly not well. The doctors weren’t really sure what was going on and then blood gases revealed a ridiculously high carbon dioxide level of nearly 14 (Kerry’s usually bad level is 8 and a normal persons should be about 5).

Anyway, the doctors were brilliant and Kerry was whisked straight down to the High Dependancy Unit where she will stay until at least tm, but her carbon dioxide level is now back down to 8. The plan is to try and get it as low as possible as a new starting point using the bi pap. She has been on it nearly all day and the levels have been altered to make it more effective. Thank goodness it is doing it’s job!

Will update again soon but for now, the plan is to carry on waiting for that call and just keep stabilised so Kerry can get back to the normal ward soon.

Again, she is very grateful for all the comments, thoughts, kindness and is being as wonderfully brave as always!

Love Kim xxx

    Hi Kim
Thank you again for the update. Please give Kerry a big hug from me and tell her we are thinking of her all the time and we are lighting our candles for her weekly at church. She is never far far from our thoughts. Love to you all.

Thank you Kim; – please tell Kerry that we continue to pray in her very best interests; – for strength – and for everything that is going to bring her well-ness once more.
