Nice to hear from you Kerry – keep up the good work!
It seems strange to email someone who i have never met before but i really couldn’t resist after reading through this truly inspirational blog. My name is Natalie and i came across your site after seeing comments on facebook left by Gemma Baigent and an old school friend Lorna Wilkinson. I live in Jersey still and went to Beaulieu but with Jersey being Jersey, and being in the same year, i’m sure our paths have probably crossed at some point!
To cut a long story short, last November completely out of the blue, i was diagnosed with a brain tumour. I had always been very healthy and it was a complete shock for myself, husband and family. Since then, it has come back three times despite 3 operations, two months of radiotheraphy and 4 months of chemo. I also suffer from seizures which come completely out of the blue and so panic attacks and lack of confidence when out of my comfort zone are very common! Mine is a very rare tumour and although being treated at one of the best neurological hospitals in London, the whole team that look after me has only ever seen one other person with a similar condition. I had my 30th Birthday last month in ITU and am in the UK again now recovering from another opp i had 10 days ago due to complications from the prior! I am also now due to start a different form of Chemo on my return to Jersey next week and so it continues…
Anyway, i just wanted to let you know that having discovered your blog, i truly admire how positive and honest you are. One of the biggest problems i have found is the isolation of being so ill, so young. Its hard not to feel alone, especially when all your friends are seem to be getting on with their lives and most are starting families. Sometimes its hard to believe its all happening. But day by day it slowly becomes easier and the support and love i receive from my friends and family is overwhelming – i couldn’t do it without them, and thats not to forget our 3 year old black labrador Olly, he also makes me smile everyday!!
Having spent a lot of time in Hospital this last 12 months it has really opened my eyes to what we are capable of copping with if we have the right attitude, and this is why i just wanted to drop you this email to say i think you have the most amazing attitude and are very brave (i actually hate it when people tell me i’m brave, as we don’t really have a choice anyway do we, but i’m going to stick to my guns on this one as i think you are!!!!!!) and i will be reading your blog in the future to keep up to date with your progress which i have no doubt will be enormous 🙂
I hope you don’t mind me emailing you, but i just wanted to let you know that in a weird way, your story really has helped me. My step dad is on a kidney transplant list and just had both kidneys removed in the summer as they were doing more harm then good left in. What a rollercoaster hey?!!! He is also very positive and just gets on with things. He too is an inspiration!
Take care Kerry and i will be thinking of you.
You’re absolutely brilliant Kerry. Fantastic to hear you’re doing so well.
Love and prayers
Wow 🙂 Super fab to get a message from you via your blog, Kerry! Well done and yeeeyyyy 🙂 Keep up all the good work – I’m just so proud and in complete admiration of you, my lovely. Many, many hugs and cheers from Daisy (my dog) and I, and the rest of the Egre clan xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Kerry, well done. I’m so happy for you that there are positive signs that all is going well. I can’t wait to see some photographs on here of you walking Disney in Jersey again.

Saw a great programme on BBC3 earlier this week about a young lady with cystic fibrosis who needed a transplant……her story mirrored yours , it was uncanny.
She had the transplant at Harefield and at the end of the film she was filmed playing with her dog in a field 9 weeks after the operation!! look out Disney!!
